Greetings,

   My name is Derek Plavin, and I created this site, alongside my youtube channel, How To Practice Jazz Guitar Efficiently, to help guitarists achieve accelerated progress when it comes to their jazz guitar skills. I've been playing and studying guitar since 2000.

   

   The unique thing about my approach is that unlike many teachers today who actually make it a point to mention that they uniquely tailor their training to the "needs of the individual", I stand strong behind the point that I believe that idea is over-exaggerated, and that the uniqueness of a person's development is naturally inevitable, even without intention. In addition, the inevitable uniqueness of each student's sound/style is coming out of the idea that they get to choose what musical material they want/have to work on, and apply it to the approach. That's the beauty of it.

    If you're serious about getting real results with something, and you're willing to put in whatever kind of correct work that would be necessary to reach that goal, the truth is, one of the best things you can do to accomplish that goal as fast as possible would be to find a proven and trusted method that just flat out works, and stick to it as consistently as possible, so that you can you can progress in the right direction as fast as possible.

 

    I would never go so far as to say that my approach is the only valid one in existence. Of course there exists unlimited potential for other successful approaches, and what I say is not meant to be in contrast to what anyone else says. In fact a lot of the stuff that I teach actually focuses more on things like how to organize and prioritize different components of your practice, so other peoples' educational materials can potentially be used in conjunction with my approach, once the student understands what they are doing. Regardless, what I can promise you is one approach that truly works if you follow it through consistently. 

 

    If you follow along the youtube channel, in order, it will logically take you through the entire approach, and it's entirely free! Of course, I still offer private lessons, as well as various other services and products on the site for anyone that wants more help. A lot of the videos will also offer various accompanying pdf's at very affordable prices. Don't worry, they won't be necessary, only helpful for those that want it.
